Stockhausen!

A table-based tangible user interface was developed in order to provide an interactive surface capable of recognition and tracking of standard objects. An open-source computer-vision framework was used as a starting point in order to obtain a reliable transmission of object states. This information reaches the audio generation software through an open standard protocol; using the same protocol, both the computer-vision and audio engine communicate with the graphical user interface (GUI).

A unique approach was used to develop the GUI. It is different from various reacTable (reacTIVision system) clones, in that it helps the audience to follow the performance with a big vertical video projection screen used by musician to display the state of the performance; smooth animations and graphics transition guided the audience in the various parts of Spiral.
